2026 Anzac Day address - Carlo Novak

On 25 April 2026 at the South Arm Memorial Park, a crowd had gathered for the morning service on a mild autumn day.

Following the wreath laying by dignitaries, defence force representatives, veterans and community members, the service began. A young man stepped up to the podium and began the formal address. His name is Carlo Novak and his voice that of a modern day veteran.

What followed had the audience enlightened by his discovery, on leaving the military after nine years, that his toughest tour of duty yet was here - the war within the mind.

Everyone left that day with a deeper insight into veterans experiences and the words "Not everyone who comes home… truly comes home".

Thank you Carlo, for your words and for your service.
