Please note this may change as our upcoming season progresses with feedback welcome from stallholders and others involved.

Please remember, our team is here to help the market set up and come alive as seamlessly and as stress-free as possible - please help us help you by reading these policies and procedures carefully. If you have any queries, please contact us via the details below.

About the South Arm Community Market

The market runs on the first Sunday from September - May at the South Arm Community Centre, Calverton Hall and Oval. No markets are held in winter.  We aim to create a community event that:

  • encourages and showcases local produce, art and craft
  • also offers a wide range of curated quality products from beyond the Peninsula
  • has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere and an excellent range of stalls and activities.
  • is a social occasion for locals to catch up
  • invites visitors from far and wide to experience a slice of our paradise life, many returning regularly
  • stallholders also enjoy the cheerful spirit.

The market has been overseen, supported and financed by SAPRA since 2012. Read more here

Stallholder categories & cancellations/no-shows

  • A regular stallholder attends 7/9 markets per season and has a regular allocated site and must book each market or advise non-attendance.
  • Booking in for regulars (and Food Vans) is strictly from 7.30am -8am for prompt access to their allocated site for setting up.
  • Casual site bookings are available at each market, subject to the stall selection conditions.
  • Booking in for casuals is strictly 8am. If a stallholder arrives earlier, they will be asked to park and wait for 8am, unless all regulars are in place.
CANCELLATIONS
  • Stallholders who are unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances, please show courtesy and respect for all those involved in the market by contacting the market co-ordinator.
  • Stallholders with repeated no-shows (ie no notice given) may be declined from future markets.

Stallholder responsiblities

These items, and others such as the opening and closing procedures, are covered in detail in the policies and guidelines document here.  Please ensure you read them prior to booking and/or arriving at the market. Physical copies will be available at each market as well.

  • Insurance. Stallholders must either have sufficient public and product liability insurance or accept all responsibility for the safety of the people in their stall area (both stallholders and patrons) and for the safety of the products being sold. Insurance is strongly recommended (eg AAMI).
  • Food and alcohol vendors must have public and product liability insurance ($20 million) and have their relevant permits on display (eg food production, handling, serve alcohol etc). Failure to do so could result in the stall being unable to open.
  • Gazebos/marquees. Stallholders are entirely responsible for ensuring their gazebos/marquees are properly secured. They MUST be weighted down. Pegs are only permitted when used with 20kg weights.
  • Dogs. Except food vendors, stallholders can bring their dog to the market on the condition the dog is kept on a lead and under the owner’s control.  Stallholders are responsible for their dog’s behaviour and for cleaning up their waste.
  • Electrical cords. All power leads used for food vans, music or other stalls must be tagged and tested.
  • Stall rubbish. Stallholders are responsible for taking their stall’s rubbish off-site. The rubbish facilities available are for patrons and are limited.

Code of Conduct - for stallholders, market team and patrons

The South Arm Community Market has a reputation for being a very friendly place to have a stall and/or visit. It's very important to us as locals and hosts of this event, and to you the stallholder, that it's welcoming to everyone.  The market and SAPRA teams work hard to present a friendly event in our community and interactions between us all – stallholders, team members and patrons - should be:

  • Respectful, kind, courteous and honest
  • Co-operative and understanding of others
  • Devoid of harassment, bullying, intimidation and threatening.

Where tense or difficult situations arise, the first reaction should be to de-escalate and, if necessary, ask for assistance from the market co-ordinators.

We love our market. We love welcoming stallholders from near and far to our community.
We love seeing all patrons appreciate what you present and what we have created together.
Let’s all keep working together and relish the experience😊
